Relationship between Disability Identity, Stigma, and Career Maturity : The Mediating Effects of Self-Efficacy

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effects of self-efficacy on the relationship between disability identity, stigma and career maturity. 116 university students with disabilities were recruited from Seoul, and surrounding areas. A self-administered survey was conducted to assess participant¡¯s disability identity, stigma, self-efficacy and career maturity. Results are as follows: First, higher disability identity coupled with lower stigma and higher self-efficacy led to greater career maturity. Second, the student¡¯s self-efficacy had a significant mediation effect on the relationship between disability identity, stigma and career maturity. Implications and suggestions for future research are addressed.
